Located in the main concourse of the Leon’s Centre, the Kingston & District Sports Hall of Fame honours individuals whose contributions to sport in Kingston and surrounding region have brought distinction to the community and to themselves. Inductees feature National Hockey League greats such as Kirk Muller, Doug Gilmour, Bob Murray, famous hockey coach-turned-commentator Don Cherry as well as marathon swimmer Vicki Keith.
The Kingston & District Sports Hall of Fame was moved from Kingston’s previous entertainment complex, The Memorial Centre, to the Leon’s Centre in 2008.
Inductee plaques are featured prominently in the main concourse between Gates 1 and 2. Exhibits of memorable artifacts significant to the sporting history of the Kingston area are on display throughout the facility.
