Food and Beverage Supervisor – Shift Leader
Position Summary: SMG Canada, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities is recruiting for positions in the Department of Food and Beverage for Food and Beverage Supervisors. This position is responsible for superior execution of premium service areas and their respective functions. This position has growth opportunities for the right candidate.
Concessions and Quick Services
► Selling, stocking and managing food and beverage product and services to company standard
► Providing customer and employee direction to provide excellent services during demanding and fast-paced events from hockey to concerts to family shows.
► Service delivery of all Food and Bar Services in the Rogers K-Rock Centre Concession Stands, liaison with regular clientele and supervising the staff.
► Effective management of special functions held in space including liaising with clients reservations for regular business and private functions.
Staffing Responsibility and Supervisory Team
► Work collaboratively with all managers and supervisors of the food and beverage department, including cross training and supervising other departments such as suites, concessions and bar services as needed.
► Work with management team to enforce and instruct on company policy and daily operating policies and procedures, to include SmartServe, Occupational Health and Safety and company Employee Handbook.
► Ability to work under limited supervision and to interact appropriately with the public, employees and various levels of internal and external agencies.
Role Specifications and Abilities
► Display knowledge of the food menu, ensuring all menu items are available for purchase at all times
► Preparation of food items as required
► Must listen and respond to customer complaints in a professional, pleasant manner
► To perform this job successfully, an individual must have excellent computer knowledge. Experience using Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and Outlook are vital.
► Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written English. Ability to communicate in French is an asset although not a requirement.
► Excellent attention to detail and customer service skills
► Excellent leadership, organizational, planning and problem-solving skills
► Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic with the ability to adhere to strict confidentiality
► Other duties as assigned in particular moving between service areas and reporting to managers in order to achieve effective execution of the varied events at the K-Rock Centre.
► Must maintain a presentable, professional appearance to customers at all times
► Problem solve and make decisions quickly
► Supervise staff to ensure SMG Canada’s high standards for food service and guest satisfaction are met.
► Ability to communicate with team mates, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, professional and respectful manner with a focus on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
► Successful candidate will work flexible hours for all shifts. This includes early mornings, days, evenings, late nights, weekends and holidays as event business demands.
► Completion of Grade 12.
► 2-4 years related experience in a supervisory role relating to catering, quick service, concessions or restaurant services
► Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED is recommended
► Smart Serve Certification is required
► WHMIS Training is recommended
► Safe Food Handlers Certificate is an asset
► Varying hours Part Time-Casual/ Seasonal $12.75-$13.75/hour
► Experience with Micros, or similar POS systems are considered an asset.
